Revisiting Your Wedding Checklist

in Getting Started
Newly married couple walks along the shoreline on a cool day.

If you’ve already begun planning your wedding, you’ve likely realized by now that this whole process can be quite an undertaking! In case you need a little recap on the basics, it might be a good time to revisit your wedding checklist. Have you reviewed your own to-do list in a while? If not – or if you haven’t found a good checklist to work with yet – you can find our wedding checklist here.

Don’t worry if it still seems like you have a mountain of tasks to get done – they will get finished, one by one. Just focus on one item at a time and work your way down the list slowly. We recommend that you revisit your own checklist at least every two weeks, crossing off anything that’s been completed, and then plan the next week to two week’s worth of tasks to complete.

Depending on where you are in your own planning, you might also want to reach out to any vendors you’ve already booked for the big day and touch base with them on things left to do before the wedding. They may even have checklists of their own which you can either incorporate into your own to-do list, or you can simply print out a copy of their lists for your wedding binder and then schedule a good time on your calendar to review these items once more.

Having a hard time getting though your checklist because of procrastination? You might try tackling a set number of tasks per week (aim for no more than five per week, particularly if they involve a lot of research or preparation time) and then reward yourself at the end of the week – a fun shopping trip, a spa appointment, etc.

Most importantly, try to keep things as simple as possible. Even if you are planning a huge wedding, there are probably items on your checklist which could be removed altogether so that your time could be better spent tackling some of the other more important tasks. Keeping things trimmed down and streamlined can go a long way in keeping your own stress level to a minimum.
